FAQs

Q.Do you shoot in a studio?
A.

No. I prefer to shoot on location. This means I shoot at the location of your choice. This could be your favorite park, in your home, in a hotel, in a field of flowers, etc. This allows your session to be completely custom and personal.

Q.How long will it take to see my proofs?
A.

We will schedule a Proofing Party (usually in your home) within 2 weeks after your session. At this time, you will see your proofs and place your order.

Q.What products do you offer and how much should I budget for them?
A.

I offer a full range of products including mounted art prints, gallery-wrapped canvases, luxury albums, press printed cards, and more. There is no minimum order.  Clients typically invest $500+ on prints and products.

Q.How many outfits should I bring?
A.

I allow as many wardrobe changes as you can fit into your session. However, please know the tolerance of your child. Some children hate changing and putting things over their heads. This may make for a cranky Susie and we don’t want that.

Q.What if my child doesn’t cooperate?
A.

Most of the time, I can get children to cooperate; however, I do understand there are those rare times when nothing seems to work.  If that happens, and you are not happy with how the session is going, we will re-schedule it for a later date at no additional charge.

Q.When should I book my newborn session?
A.

If you are interested in booking a newborn session, please don’t wait until you are home from the hospital. The best time to photograph newborns are within the first 10 days, to ensure we get those sleeping baby pictures. Please contact me ASAP with your due date. We will set up a tentative date and can change it if needed.

Q.What should we wear?
A.

The goal is to have everyone compliment each other, but not be too “matchy-matchy.” Pick 2- 4 colors and stay within that color palette. Layers and texture look great in a photo. By adding a blazer or fun scarf, not only does it make the picture look more complete, you can drop the layers toward the end of the shoot for a completely different look. Don’t forget to accessorize! Umbrellas, jewelry, raincoats/boots, hats, scarves, leg warmers, belts, costumes, headbands, and any other accessories bring in some playful texture to your outfit. Be bold and colorful. Avoid logos, large prints or characters. Once you book your session, I will send you plenty of examples and you can also check out my pinterest board.

Q.Can we have a session in multiple locations?
A.
Yes. If you want photos taken at more than one location, that is fine.  There will be an additional charge for changing locations.
Q.Do I need to bring anything?
A.

If you have an object that is so dear to your heart or your child’s heart, bring it! We can use it as a prop. This might be a guitar, favorite stuffed animal, flowers, sport items (basketball, bat, football), cards, a certain food, etc. When we have our consultation, we will talk more about this. Sometimes, we will need to stop for a snack break. If so, please don’t bring a messy snack. We don’t want cheesy fingers or a sticky face.

Q.How long do you keep the proofs for?
A.

Non-ordered images will be held for 60 days after your session date.  After the 60 days, non-ordered images will be discarded. All ordered images will be archived for 1 year at no additional charge.
