DIY – Invitation Ornament
A while back, I came across this project and put it on my “To-Do List.” Well, I finally completed it and I love how it came out.
What you need:
- Glass Christmas Balls (find at any craft store- I got mine at Michael’s)
- Wedding Invitation
- Paper cutter
- Pen
Use the paper cutter and start cutting the invitation into strips. I made sure not to cut into the words. The spacing of the text will determine how big or small your strips of paper will be.
As you can see, “Kate and Josh” are much wider than the rest of the strips. At first, I didn’t mind that because I wanted it to be seen as one piece. Well once, I got it into the glass ornament, it was too wide and took up most of the glass ball. I decided to cut through it. It still looks great but I could have avoided this if I used bigger glass ornaments.
I then wrapped the paper strips around a pen creating spirals of paper.
Sophie loves to get up close and personal to see what is going on…as she sits on the invitation.
I take all the paper spirals and placed them into the ornament.
Put the top back on and tie a ribbon on it. Voila!
Side note: This is actually ribbon from Kate’s wedding. It was on one of the bridesmaid’s bouquet.
I also did my wedding invitation. <3
Love them! This is a really basic project but I am sure you can step it up a notch and add glitter, charms, sand (beach wedding), etc. I would love to see how yours turn out so send me a picture of your completed ornament!
